Box Office Review - Your Highness

In David Gordon Green's last film Pineapple Express, James Franco's character Saul can be seen watching the 80s fantasy classic Krull. If Saul attempted to write his own version of Krull it would be a lot like Your Highness.

Danny McBride plays Thadeus, a lazy prince whose brother Fabias (James Franco) is a valiant hero. Fabias returns from a quest with the head of a cyclops and the beautiful princess Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel) who he plans to marry. Unfortunately on their wedding day, the evil Sorcerer Leezar (Justin Theroux) shows up and kidnaps Belladonna in order to fulfil a prophecy. As a result of this, Thadeus must join Fabias on an epic quest in order to save his brothers love as well as prevent the destruction of their kingdom.

Most of the humor in the film comes from Danny McBride, and this really depends on if you like his style of comedy. Much like McBride's other characters Fred Simmons and Kenny Powers, Thadeus is a selfish and unlikeable character. This type of comedy doesn't appeal to everyone, but personally I find it hilarious.

Your Highness is funny in a late night, quotable, watchable sort of way. There isn't much to the film, but there doesn't need to be. If you think a stoner fantasy film is something that would appeal to you, than you will probably enjoy the film. If not, there is no reason to see it.
