Banana A Day - Man On Wire

This film embodies the saying that you should follow your dreams, it also shows that dreams are specific to each individual. Philippe Petit fulfills his dream of wire walking between the newly built World Trade Center towers in 1974. Directed by James Marsh who previously did The King, the film documents the undertaking superbly. After hearing about it and seeing the trailer I figured there would be a lot of talking heads and still photographs, but there is actually some well shot old footage of the preparation as well. Unfortunately there are no good shots of the actual wire walk. It is amazing to think the Petit began planning the stunt before the trade centers were even built. The interviews with the crew that helped Petit complete his dream are interesting and there are a lot of different perspectives on the event. I have to say that it was great hearing the song Gymnopedie No. 1 put to good use.
