Box Office Review - Stone of Destiny

Directed by Charles Martin Smith, the film is a suspenseful and fun heist movie. Taking place in 1950, the movie centers around Ian Hamilton, a college student who plans to steal the stone of destiny back from the English as an act of defiance. I am not sure how much of the story is true, but I when I saw the trailer, I didn’t think there would be such an elaborate robbery planed. Ian Hamilton is played by Charlie Cox, most noticeable for his role in Stardust. Kate Mara plays the female lead, and she is the most recognizable of the actors, because of her roles in Transiberian, and Shooter. Billy Boyd shows up in this, as well as Robert Carlyle (28 Weeks Later, The Full Monty), and Peter Mullan (Syd in Children of Men, Session 9) who has a small role as Hamilton’s dad. The movie moves along with a good pace, and all of the scenes are well shot. Some people might not be able to get into the story, but that is mostly up to the individual. I found great enjoyment in watching the characters attempting such of foolhardy scheme, and thus would recommend the film.
