Monkey Business

Here are a few movies that I hadn't got around to writing reviews for.

Faster

Everything wrong with current action films is present in this film. Instead of being a simple revenge story Faster features three parallel stories about men looking for redemption. Of course these three stories intersect at the end and then a twist is revealed. The movie is stylish and not in a good way. The Rock is given nothing to do in the film except walk around and be intense. I was very disappointed with the film.

Banana Peel

127 Hours

A crazy story of survival gets a unique take by frenetic director Danny Boyle. The result is a thoroughly engrossing film that flies by and demands a second viewing. James Franco's performance is impressive and heartfelt. The scene that has been talked about the most in the film is well done, but not as hard to watch as people have been saying. This film must be experienced in a theater, and I hope to see it again soon.

A Gold Banana

Fair Game

Didn't know much about this film going into it. Covers similar Iraq war themes that were explored in Green Zone expect this film is about everything that was going on behind the scenes. The film is sub-par story wise but the performances by Naomi Watts and Sean Penn are very good. There isn't much here that hasn't been seen before, but it is worth seeing for the two impressive performances.
