Banana A Day - The Yards

Director James Gray's first film with Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg, creates a solid film about loyalty. The way this film was shot was very good, it was dark and the camera moves around slowly. The story has some good twists in it and all of the character are believable. The problem I have is with Mark Wahlberg's character. His emotions never seem to change even when he is accused of a crime that he did not commit. There is not really a character ark for him and it felt like in the end he was at the same place he was at in the beginning. This could be on Mark Wahlberg's head because, this was earlier on in his acting career and with each movie he gets better.
