Banana A Day - City of Ember

Gil Kenan who previously did Monster House and a bizarre short called The Lark directs this under appreciated gem. This is the perfect fantasy film. It is disappointing that this film never really caught on with an audience. Hopefully in the future it will get the appreciation that it deserves. The use of gorgeous sets with CG create an engrossing world for the story to take place. All of the acting is tremendous. There is a good chance that we will see the leads Saoirse Ronan(who already has had an Oscar nomination and is appearing in Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones later this year), and Harry Treadway (who is actually twenty four which is weird because his character is the same age as Saoirse Ronan who is fourteen. I am not sure if she is playing older or if he is playing younger?) have flourishing careers. The film is well paced and all of the action scenes are crucial to the story. City of Ember is a incredibly enjoyable film that I will enjoy for years to come, and I hope more people will appreciate it as I do.
