Banana A Day - One Soldier

Written and directed by Steven Wright, this 1999 short is a good contemplation about death. Wright plays the main character who is a civil war veteran. He is sentenced to death and the entire film is told looking back after his execution, and how all he thought about was unanswerable questions. The film is shot in black and white and it looks great. Wright uses his style of comedy in the writing, so it is very funny. A great scene is when he attempts to become more spiritual, but not wanting to interrupt God, does not enter the church he goes to. In the end after he is dead he decides that he shouldn't have worried about things and instead should have gone fishing. Below is a clip from the short, and you can find the full thing on the DVD When the Leaves Blow Away. It is worth the money.
