Banana A Day - The River

Jean Renoir created a masterpiece in more ways than one with this fantastic film set in India. Stylistically this film is absolutely gorgeous. The 1951 Technicolor makes India come off the screen and there are very few movies that can match the visual lushness of this film. The storyline is great in that it is told as realistically as possible. It is one part a coming of age story, and another about accepting what life gives you. I find it hard to think that anyone could not like and become involved with the characters over the course of the film. This is a fantastic cinematic experience.
